Title: Air's Rock
Post by: SuperTeeter64 on July 20, 2011, 09:15:53 PM
UGH!
:gsagitated:
 :felix:

Anyone else remember this place being very annoying? I've got memories of it being annoying. Maybe it won't be too bad if I went and played it again since I'm older...

But funny story about Air's Rock! The moment I got the Reveal Psynergy my power went out!...  Sheba's power's are just too great!!
 :gsexclamatory:
 :sheba: "Oh... I'm sorry!!..."

Yeah I never really liked doing any of the rocks. Gaia was the easiest in my opinion. Although one of the good things about Magma rock was you could grind levels for a bit from the bird things there (that is, until you realize the alternative in the secret cave).

Air's rock was not that bad although It seemed really depressing and boring. By the way, Gaia Rock is where the serpent is at right? If so, I'm on it right now. :)  :thumbup1:

Yep, that's correct. Gaia Rock aka Mount Mikage.

The serpents pretty easy, just a heads up ;)

Air's Rock took me more time than all the other rocks together! I spent almost a week in there! All the dotted rooms confused me. Usually I'm good at puzzle games (like Zelda or Golden Sun), but that was long, mind-numbing, and a waste of time. ...My little rant's over.

Post by: Altearithe on August 01, 2012, 04:09:22 PM
I remember Air's Rock being slightly frustrating, but I think I liked it the best. :3
The puzzles were moderately difficult and not too easy like Gaia's Rock or annoying like Magma Rock (with its darn moving panels on lava that takes forever and a day to just cross), and you get to fly around. :D

I think Magma Rock took me a bit longer than Air's Rock and Gaia's Rock to finish; around an hour I think? (Mostly running back and forth. Now it only takes me about 20 minutes or half an hour, but still...bleah...) Air's Rock took half an hour while Gaia's Rock took 15 minutes at the longest.

My favorite Rock was Magma, followed by Aqua, then Air's, and Gaia last ('cause it was so darn easy).

Air's is my least favorite. Magma was pretty fun though.

I must be the odd one out, since I liked Gaia Rock the best (because of the story involved within) and Magma Rock the least (because it's boring as finding nuts in treasures).
Title: Re: Air's Rock

hmm i liked Aqua rock. And Gaia rock. Air's was boring and Magma was just plain easy.

Gaia Rock was actually fun because of the sorry behind it too, agree.

I wish america weren't so easily offended. It was amazing in the Japanese version how, in a reference to Japanese Legend: Susa(Susano) felled the great Serpent (Yamata no Orochi) by getting it drunk. But alas, the english version changed the "Sake" that Susa gave the Dragon to "Dragonsbane"

That's america for ya, they get offended by nudity yet don't even cry foul over blood and gore!

Anyway, I actually beaten Gaia Rock with a Level 23-25 party without the lights, I did not even know that they existed until years later when I replayed the game, lol.

Airs Rock was ok, ironically I went there before I went to the desert place, when I did beat Airs Rock, I went back to the desert place and wondered why the enemies were easier than the ones in Airs Rock.

Aqua Rock was horrible, my eyes never got raped so bad @_@, I was stuck with much of the puzzles for like 5 hours!

Magma Rock, did not care for it.

I'm replaying GS:TLA and guess where I am. Last time I played it, I had forgotten all about the area south of Alhafara (i.e. Air's Rock and Kibombo). I found out I forgot when I was around level 25 or 30. Stupid me, right?
Title: Re: Air's Rock

Lol. By the way, I believe Kibombo is to the west, in Gondowan.

First time anyone normaly plays TLA. "I am going to explore this area below the desert. Oh! Air's Rock. Dies a lot, because they should've did the desert first."

I am on easy mode (I accidentaly pressed it.) and I am really bored. Tried to beat the Serpent without completing Gaia Rock and FAILED epicly, because I am dumb. Moral of the story: don't try to beat the Serpent before completing Gaia Rock even on Easy mode. Unless you are at Level 99, then you might succeed.

Someone beat the failure boss in GS1 with hacks and it still said that Isaac and Garet fainted and Saturos and Menardi were awake and hopped away.

Post by: Merc on December 06, 2012, 12:24:42 PM
The latter isn't really surprising because the game gives no way for you to actually level up high enough to beat them, so they just coded for the outcome to be the same whether you win or lose.

I tried battling the Serpent without turning out any lights. I lasted about 20 minutes. I then turned the gam off.

How do you do it? It heals about 5,357 HP per turn! I can't even take away that much in two turns. Even on EASY mode.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Tetsu (Soltur) on December 08, 2012, 10:39:24 PM
LOTS of healing and defending. I knew I stood no chance, but I went for it anyway.

But he recovers too much in one round for you to even do in two! How did you destroy it with THAT LEVEL!

I said I battled it. I never said I beat it. Here's what I mean:

I tried battling the Serpent without turning out any lights. I lasted about 20 minutes. I then turned the gam off.

I don't think you noticed that I said that I turned the game off. I knew I was screwed...but I fought anyway.

No I just suck...I usually summon barrage on bosses, because I'm a noob like that. I had a hard time with almost every boss because I did that.

Easiest strategy to use. have 2 people go back and forth between using a djinn that drastically decreases damage done to you (Like Flash i think..the one that sets up a fire wall, and granite.) then use the remaining two for attacking. in the first game Isaac and Garet would be occupied while Mia and Ivan are free to battle.

1st round: Isaac granite
Garet: anything
Mia and Ivan: anything
2nd round: Isaac: set granite
Garet: Flash
Mia and Ivan: anything
3rd: same as first
Garet: set flash

repeat steps 2 and 3...takes a while, but......
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Merc on April 19, 2013, 02:55:15 AM
That would be more ideal with Flash and Shade, but that works.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Ivan Strider on April 27, 2013, 03:58:05 AM
Well Shade wasn't in the first game if I recall correctly.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Merc on April 27, 2013, 04:03:14 AM
And seeing as this topic is about Air's Rock, which happens to be in TLA instead of the first game, we should probably be talking about strategies in the second game over the first.

Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Star Magician on April 27, 2013, 07:40:26 AM
I like it because it was the first truly difficult psynergy puzzle area since Venus Lighthouse.

It's also one of the few places where you can challenge yourself in TLA if you find the game easy like I did. You can skip ahead to Air's rock while you're under-leveled and the fights are a lot tougher (at least on hard mode). It's like in the first game where you can go to either Kolima Forest first or Mercury Lighthouse first. Those are like the only two points in the entire series where you can choose where to go.
Title: Re: Air's Rock

I found it long and boring.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Team Flare Zakk ( Agatio ) on May 31, 2013, 06:45:04 AM
I didn't like Air's Rock, nor did I like Garoh the town visited before and after going to Air's Rock.

What sucks even more is I think Sveta descends from Maha and Maha is boring.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Rolina on May 31, 2013, 02:57:02 PM
Yeah, pretty much confirmed that she's not, Agatio.  They're on completely different continents.  Sveta's race evolved from the beasts and people near Mogall Woods.  I think the name Morgall couldn't have been any clearer in its reference.

As far as Air's Rock is concerned, great dungeon, horrible payoff.  It's actually my favorite, but all that for freaking reveal?!  The hell, Camelot?  No epic boss battle at the end like with the Serpent in Gaia Rock?  No new psynergy, but rather one you got for like, no effort in the last game?  For as awesome as the dungeon was, the reward for finishing it was hopelessly pathetic.  I think that's the real reason everyone hates the darned thing.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Team Flare Zakk ( Agatio ) on May 31, 2013, 07:48:49 PM
That's good news Rolina, I love Sveta and I heard so many rumors about her descending from Maha, I'm glad they are false.

 :gsjoy:  :sveta2:  :gsjoy:

Morgall sounds alot like Morgul from Lord of the Rings.
Title: Re: Air's Rock
Post by: Ivan Strider on June 01, 2013, 11:20:22 PM
Air's rock for me was just boring. It was about twice as long as Aqua Rock and Gaia Rock. The longevity of Air's rock made it easy to get boring.

I agree with the reveal thing too. But it did give the game a good story. But you also have to realize, Rolina, that where did Hama learn reveal? She might have learned it at Air's Rock.

Yeah, I don't mean to be rude, Agatio, but this is about Air's Rock.

Oh yeah, I forgot.

:sheba: that means you have to say something nice about me like you did Mia, unless you like Mia, hehe.

 :agatio: shut up Sheba!

:jenna: great now she's picking at Agatio

 :sheba: Agatio likes Mia!

It is easy too not talk about the other Elemental Rocks seeing that Air's Rock is the least favorite, I mean look at the statistics.

Aqua Rock: Not saying it's the best, but it's my personal favorite, I don't know even know why it's my favorite...

 :sheba: Is it Mia?

:agatio: Sheba, shut up, you're interrupting, that's rude.

Sheba uses Mind Read and just starts giggling

Anyway moving on,

Magma Rock: cool music and playing with burst psynergy and blaze is fun

Gaia Rock: has a freaken serpant boss to battle, and Sand is a pretty cool field psynergy

Air's Rock: always wanting to be done with it.

So the list goes

Aqua Rock
Magma Rock
Gaia Rock
Air's Rock

Of course you guys have your own preferences, so your lists are going to differ by preference.

1. Air's Rock
2. Gaia Rock
3. Aqua Rock
4. Magma Rock

Haters gonna hate.
For me?

Air's Rock
Aqua Rock
Magma Rock
Gaia Rock

I loved the size and scope of Air's Rock.  Yeah, prize was hella disappointing, but man I totally enjoyed the dungeon.  Also, Fuujin Shield is totally awesome.  May not be the 'prize', but damn if that's not one of the best bits of loot in the game.  Aqua and Magma are close to me, but I put Aqua above because Parch is more useful in the game.  Gaia... I was disappointed by.  Compared to the other rocks, you spend more time outside than inside it.  I'd have loved to have more than just the stupid growth maze.  And the music... seemed too airy.  Didn't fit a venus locale, IMO.  A more earthy feel would have been better for it, kinda like the Gombomba Statue's music, but without the mechanical beat.  Did like how it had a boss, though.  I wish the other three did.

Still, the rocks were some of the best dungeons in the game.  I liked them more than some of the lighthouses.  Very fun, loved exploring them.
