Apparently due to internet problems and incidents Nintendo is shutting down SwapNote World wide on the 3ds(possibly the 2ds also if it had it). for more info here is the link http://www.nintendo.com/whatsnew/detail/UHQZFP2Jxcll_Vm-PsZpxNIK5920bRRK

L, since when are the parents supposed to accept responsibility instead of sue companies? How many people blame fast food for getting them fat instead of their over-consumption of said product? Face it, personal responsibility is as dead as the Spanish Armada.

On topic, maybe Nintendo will make it age locked so that people under 16 cannot access it, or create a ban system?

There's an idea, but then we face another problem: Lying about your age. Let's face it: Many people have at one point or another.

And it's not exactly difficult to bypass Nintendo's age filters.

>_>

I don't even use Swapnote, in fact in the E Shop, I have Swapnote update I should download sometime, as soon as Nintendo is done beating these stupid kid's butts with a belt.

Nintendo, use a studded belt you find in Hot Topic, that will teach em!

I had to bypass the age filter just so I could Game Chat with my little cousin. Was as hard as clicking a 'yes' button instead of a 'no' button. >.>

BINGO. See? That's the problem with age restrictions 'cause Nintendo isn't going to make it all that hard to access SwapNote.

And the eShop age filters ask you for your birthday every single time you open up a game that's above the age restrictions. It isn't hard to figure out that you need to say you're 17 for those games.

Then again, I'm kinda thankful for the bad filters. If they weren't bad, I wouldn't have been able to get SMT 4 >_>

You do see the problem with that, correct? There are age restrictions for a reason. Do you want a 10-year old to play a game that the government used to use to desensitize the military for the carnage they'd enter? (Call of Duty). Or Grand Theft Auto?

I think another major problem is that L is right: Parents do need to watch over what games their kids play more, but that's difficult because their kids know a lot more about technology than they do.

The reason this is so difficult is because video games are a new form of media. Most older adults don't understand them enough, causing problems both on being too lax and being too strict. The rules aren't set in stone yet, and right now it's pretty much up to each individual person to draw their own lines.

I'm 100% sure that there is a way to put a Parental Lock on the Nintendo eShop. And, in the manual, I'm pretty sure that there is a guide to set up Parental Locks and Parental Controls.
