Face it, the idea of the descendants failed, that's one of the reasons why Dark Dawn wasn't that good, I think we need to just stick with the original 4 in each game, they are the 4 most iconic protagonists of the series, Isaac, Garet, Ivan and Mia, just have them in Golden Sun 4.

As for Matthew's team, well here's an idea, the beginning of the game starts out that they set out to do battle with Alex himself in a scripted battle where they lose, kind of similar to Saturos and Menardi at the beginning of the original Golden Sun, thus Alex kills off the descendants from Dark Dawn, which is Matthew, Karis and Tyrell, the 3 seen at the end of Dark Dawn, and of course after words Alex vows to finish off all of descendants of the Adepts of Weyard, thus confirming Alex to be a villain, I don't know, maybe I just want to see Dark Dawn's protagonists killed off by Alex, lol, bring back the original Golden Sun cast.

It's too late to go back now. Best case scenario would be errybody teaming up at the end, like in TLA.
Old team is past their prime anyway, I want to play as Takeru.

Doesn't mean Dark Dawn can't be non-cannon, make it a alternate universe or some sort of dream.

I'd rather wait ten years and see DD get full on redone with right and proper storytelling practices.  You know, getting the game we should have gotten in the first place

A remake would be welcomed, as unlikely of a future for the franchise exists now. Dark Dawn honestly had the best characters and character interactions of the three games, along with more development for those characters, despite less time provided. If the game was about 2-3 times longer, with better pacing (spent too long in Southern Angara), and more improved mechanics (Unleash and Psynergy systems need more work), with perhaps the addition of Light and Dark mechanics (whether Elements or Light and Dark variants of existing Psynergy), then we could get the best game the series could offer.

Yeah, if we get a remake, it'd not be by Camelot's hands.  It'd have to be a team with a passion for the original games and wanting to do them justice.

I'm quite interested to see if any other company will get their hands on the series, though, that depends if Nintendo and Camelot allow it, with that said, who should be given the opportunity?

I mentioned in another thread that I'm all for Monolith Soft getting their hands on GS, considering they're a first party, and make amazing, beautiful games despite the outdated hardware they have to deal with.

But I doubt they have much, if any, interest in the series.

True, but I wouldn't pick them for a remake - I'd have them make a whole new game.  A remake should be an updated version of the old system, one that fixes many of its flaws and updates the mechanics to something more modern - at the same time, they need to not alienate the fans.

A new GS in the style of Xenoblade sounds amazing.  But it'd have to be new, IMO.

I can't really think of anyone who'd get it right outside of the battle system other than Monolith Soft. That's the problem I'm having because a lot of GS' appeal is the setting.

A remake though... hmm...

I think the Tales series devs over at Namco could do it, but they're quite busy being Sony ponies right now.

Maybe Nihon Falcom could do it... I don't know who else...

I'd rather it be done by a new team we've either not heard of yet or that hasn't been formed yet.  Even though it's been over 6 years, it still feels too early for a remake, you know?  I think we're more likely to get them when the series as a whole gets revisited.

As long as it isn't Squeenix or Konami.

Anyway, to go back on-topic, I think they would have to continue with DD's characters if the next game is after DD, or at least have another party meet up with them halfway through the game a la TLA.
